How long does a dash cam keep footage?

The dash cam will record up to 1.9 GB (about 6 hours) of video on a loop that refreshes continuously.  

Will my dash cam drain my battery? 

It is possible for a dash cam to drain your car battery. However, this is very unlikely to occur, unless you do not drive your car frequently. The battery drainage also depends on whether the electrical connection to the dash cam is always on. 

Does a dash cam record all the time? 

And without any sort of recording controls, dashboard cameras are typically designed to record continuously whenever they are powered up. … Although you can use virtually any recording device as a dash cam, you will have to turn it on and set it to record every time you get in your car.

1080p HD at 30 frames per second. It will record approximately two hours’ worth of footage when recording at 1440p Quad HD footage. 

Do Dashcams work when car off?

Turn off motion detection feature. For smaller SD cards, this feature will stop recording whenever no motion is detected in front of the camera. When movement is detected the camera will start recording again. 

 Where is the best place to mount a dash cam? 

The best position is right down the center of the windshield, about a few inches down from the headliner. If your dashcam comes with a suction cup mount, you should leave enough space so that the device can be easily installed. But which location would be best? Ideally, just behind the rear view mirror. 

What is parking mode in dash cam? 

Parking mode recording, which may also be referred to as “Sentry Mode,” “360-Degree Surveillance,” and simply “Surveillance,” is a feature of a dash cam that keeps your dash cam recording footage even when the vehicle is off.
