Other globulars, for instance M2, are very regular and symmetrical in appearance. Globular clusters also vary noticeably in the character of their outlying members – the set of stars surrounding the main body of the cluster. Some have large halos of distinct outliers, others have fewer or fainter outliers. Finally, while most globulars are bright objects by deep-sky standards, some are notably faint, anomalously so in a few cases. To say the least, then, globular clusters are not as blandly similar visually as photographs make them seem.
